Biography:

Dr. Mohamed Hamed is a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering and the Founding Director of the Thermal Processing Laboratory (TPL) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, McMaster University, Canada. His research interests are in the Modeling of Thermal Processing Operations, Optimization of Energy Utilization in Industrial Processes, the Use of Renewable Energy in Net-Zero Energy Buildings, Boiling Heat Transfer, and the Modeling of Free-Surface Flows.

His research involves laboratory-scale experiments and numerical modelling techniques. His contributions have been disseminated in more than 120 scientific publications, books, and patents. Dr. Hamed has taught several undergraduate and graduate courses, including Fluid Mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Modeling of Thermal Processes, and Advanced Fluid Mechanics.

He has developed a number of technical courses for practicing engineers in the areas of Advanced Energy Management, Renewable Energy Systems, Optimization of Energy Efficiencies in Industrial Processes, and HVAC technologies. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada, and a member of professional societies including CSME, ASME, ASM, SME, ASHRAE, and the CFD Society of Canada.

Dr. Hamed is an Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member of multiple international journals such as:

  • Transactions of the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineers (CSME)
  • The International Journal of Microstructure and Materials Properties (IJMMP)
  • The International Journal of Computational Thermal Sciences
  • The International Journal of Electronics Cooling and Thermal Control

He has also served as a reviewer for more than thirty technical journals and funding agencies.
