Presentation Title:

Head of Global Public Affairs, Danfoss Climate Solutions

Abstract:

Over 75% of total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide are related to the production and consumption of energy. Heating and cooling accounts for half of the total final energy consumption, most of it still relying on fossil fuels. Clearly, if we want to achieve the 1.5°C goal, we must tackle heating and cooling. The good news is that technologies are readily available. A systemic approach is required, where we move away from silos and look at the synergies between heating and cooling, the phase-out of fossil fuels and the transition to renewables, the role of district energy and the active management of energy flows on the demand side. This presentation will focus on the necessity of system integration, highlighting stumbling blocks and opportunities, including the role of an enabling policy framework.
